Ok so you have a general idea of what niche you want to be in by now so the next question is what items to sell online. You fortunately have many options:
1) hard goods - these would be something like shoes, a car, a boat - some physical item that you could sell online
Pros - If you buy them wholesale you can make a much greater profit or you could sign up for an affiliate program and sell other people’s products, while earning a commission.
Cons - You have to deal with mailing and possible returns. You will also need your own shopping cart if you are directly selling these items as opposed to joining an affiliate program.
2) You can sell digital products like ebooks, mp3 files, online videos, webinars, etc…
Pros - no physical product to ship
Cons - Unless you are selling through someone else’s affiliate program you will be responsible for product development, and credit card processing.
3) Affiliate programs - these are products that others have created. You put these links on your site and anytime someone makes an actual purchase you get a pre-determined percentage.
There are benefits to all three of these methods and I have used every single one of them with my sites. In the next lessons I will go into great detail on where to find products for each or how to develop these products yourself. We will also go into alternative strategies to create even greater income passively and actively through your site. These methods of income generation require no product at all.
